STORY WITH ACTIVITIES
I have chosen this book which is for age 2-6 years old.
The activity to encourage reading that I will do will contain some drawings of the corresponding animals with their colors and I will leave them on the floor. These animals will be laminated so that they can be totally manipulative and observe them.
After that, when they see them and ask about them, I will tell them that we are going to tell a story with those animals.
I will tell them that they have to pick them up together and once that is done, we will sit in a circle and I will tell the story.
The second activity will be while I am telling the story, I will show them the laminated drawing of the animal that corresponds at that moment so that they can manipulate and observe it.
And finally, the last activity will be with the help of a white continuous paper on the wall and with Velcro, I will tell each child to place the animal that has touched.
That is to say, I will tell one child to put the brown bear on the paper with Velcro, another one the yellow duck and so on until all the animals are glued on the paper.
Another activity to do, is after finishing the book, is to put on the floor some wooden sticks with the drawing of the animals and I as an educator, I will say the animal and color and the children have to pick up from the floor and take the correct one.
With this story we aim to teach through a book with simple questions and answers the animals and colors.
